8hand grew out of longing and nostalgia for the balanced character and nuanced palette of local wines we have enjoyed time and time again throughout italy.

seeking a departure from typical california wines, we were fortunate to align with a winemaker and a grape-grower who share our ethos of respect for the field workers, the land, the grape, and ancient techniques.

our collective efforts aspire to create transportive and memorable, yet easy, feel-good wine to enjoy among food, friends and family.

with the deft hand of winemaker james macphail, 8hand wines honor the typicity and authenticity of the varietal and vintage.

utilizing the traditional methods of handcrafted italian winemaking, these wines unfold from a light touch with a european sensibility - balanced acidity, distinct minerality and a low-alcohol content. carefully sourced from organic single vineyards, our wines are unfiltered and unfined. with native yeasts, no additives and trace amounts of sulfites, the aging process of the wine doesn’t disrupt the inherent characteristics of the grape.

while our method upholds a common thread of a clean and minimal approach, our outcomes are wines of conveyance - each revealing their own story and their unique past.

sidenote: james is a true craftsman, a polymath + a fun and cherished friend.
