our wines begin with the most select native clones from each varietal, carefully cultivated in a healthy, biodiverse setting with sustainable vineyard practices.

farming practices

our grapes are sourced from single-varietal vineyards in dry creek valley, planted and overseen by respected grower, george unti. he bet early that certain italian varietals would thrive in this region’s warming climate and fertile soil. the diurnal weather pattern and gravelly clay loam soil have proven to be a hospitable site selection for this low vigor rootstock.

the vineyards are thoughtfully maintained by a highly trained crew who utilize careful pruning for vine balance and early season crop thinning to facilitate structure and concentration in the grapes. canopy management enhances and optimizes sunlight and wind-flow while carefully timed irrigation sustainably minimizes water usage. the vineyards employ manual weeding in lieu of any chemicals.

all materials, including compost, are organic and without the use of pesticides or herbicides. organic cover crops promote soil health, foster habitats for beneficial insects and assist with erosion control. all grapes are hand harvested at the optimum time to yield ripe yet low-alcohol fruit.
